to everyone who is thinking about/about to begin/already doing atkins, i really don't reccomend it. i did it for two weeks and i lost 8 pounds, i was so happy and excited, but it really is not all its cracked up to be. atkins is not a diet that you do for 2 weeks, 2 months, or even 2 years... its a lifetime commitment. when i decided to not do atkins for one day, i gained everything back plus 2 pounds!!!!!! do you really wanna spend the rest of ur life counting carbs??? and who would want to deprive their bodies for fruits and grain, which is what it needs.... im not talking about chocolate covered strawberries and white bread, of course those are bad for you!! what im talking about is regular fruits and wheat bread. atkins is a very hard way to live and i don't reccomend it. the second you cheat on it, it knocks your body out of ketosis. so just listen from someone who has experienced it and don't try it unless you want it for life. thanks so much for listening and hope i helped!!!!! good luck!!!!

I agree, there is no way I could go a lifetime without bread and fruit. I tried it too, and I did the exact same thing gained it back plus a little more when I stopped. Fruits are cancer fighting, and too much protein isnt healthy.

The not allowed fruit thing was what made me quit the diet. I mean...what kind of diet doesnt let you eat fruit?! Fruits are good for you!!! Thats why i stopped. I recommend everyone just do some heavy researching before they jump into something as strict as the atkins diet

That diet was originally given out by doctor's to surgical patient's awaiting a surgery and needed to lost pounds fast. I think what people are expecting is to be on it, lose wait and be fine. It IS meant to be a whole new change, meaning that's all you eat. When you're first on it, the weight you lose mostly (at first) is water weight, and then fat...The second you stop, and go back to how you were, even if you are still eating better, you'll gain water weight back. That's why doctor's recommend you work out during any diet.
