Hi there... I have a question ..... does a 1200 calorie per day diet help you lose weight quicker than the south beach? ( 2 lbs a week average after phase 1)... i need to lose 30 lbs by Sept! THank you!

try 1200 caloires dieting for 2 weeks, and then south beach for 2 weeks, and see how you personally like it.

Don't tell urself that u need to lose weight by a certain time, after a few weeks you will be discouraged and start bingeing and gain some weight back. Do not do a diet like South Beach. It will ruin your metabolism and plus, how can they say that EVERYONE losses 2 pounds after phase one, there are no guarentee's and plus you would not want to stick w/ that diet forever, so it is kinda lame. And don't set a specific calorie goal, just say like under 2000 calories, keep a food journal w/ the calories and what u ate, date the entry and after one week put down how much you weigh. Do this for a while and when you find out you are not losing as much anymore, look on one of the weeks that u did really good and follow it, not step by step, but w/ a/b the same amount of fat and calories. i think they are about the same, but with eating 1,200 calories a day it gets tricky. Depedning on your level of activiness you will need- *1,200 calories *25-40 grams of fat (try to steer away from saturated and trans fat, mono and poly fat aren't bad for you in moderation) *80-115 grams of carbohydrates *80-115 grams of protien...this is all researched information. If you do this each day you will start to really lose the weight with your exercise! slim in 6 (www.slimin6.com) works really well for me....thanks! and good luck with everything, you can do it! just believe in yourself
