Not a weight loss question: Do any of you play piano? I want to start learning this summer, but I'm wondering if I'm too old *sniff sniff*. How long would it take me to learn how to read the notes and play on my own, do you think? Thanks! ~~MissyK~~

it depends on the person. for me, its pretty hard. but for my sister, she learned so fast, she can teach herself harder things.

hiya, i am from the uk and i started playing the piano when i was 7 years old and now i am sitting my grade 5 exam in 4 days then i just need 2 sit 3 more exams and a teachers exam so by the time im 17 i will be a qualified piano teacher if i want 2 be 1. It is hard and also takes a lot of time and effort but if you really practise hard then it should not take you long to get good hope this helps.

It all depends on the time you put into it. But you're never to late to start. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies! I've never learned theory before, so it'll probably take me ALOT longer, eh? How long does it take to learn theory?

I play piano and i started when i was 5, but people i know who started a lot later or in or above the same level as me since they were able to catch on so much quicker! Hope you have fun with it.

No way-it's never too late. If you're *truly* interested in it, you'll succeed in it. I started playing piano when I was 4 years old. & I'm still pretty lousy at it. However, back in September I picked up the flute, and I'm really good at it, just because I'm so interested in it. It won't take you long to learn the basic theory you need to play. Good luck!!
