I was on the Atkins diet for like 2 weeks awhile ago and I lost like 10 or 15 pounds, but I gained it all back. (And more!) I kinda wanted to start it again but my Mom won't let me go on ANY diets at all. She decided diets are unhealthy. She said that I should just try to exercise more and not even change my eating. Do you know how much longer it will take me to lose weight only changing my exercise and not eating too?! Like FOREVER! I tried explaining to her that I want to change my eating too, even if its not a diet but she just doesn't get it. I have a feeling that she thinks that just because I'm going to Camp Shane this year (A weightloss summer camp) that I'm going to magically be dropping pounds, even when I come back, without changing much. Yeah Camp Shane is going to be a good kick-start and give me some good ideas but I'm still going to have to try when I come back. Camp Shane is not a magical solution, its just to help!!! I really wanted to try to lose like 10 pounds (I have about a month) before Camp Shane though, because that would be around 60 pounds that I could potentially (sp?) lose before 8th grade starts. My mom lost 20 pounds and a dress size so I'm thinking I could lose like 3 dress sizes - which would be totally awesome! Anyway, sorry I'm rambling on...but my question was is there a way that I can still do something sort of like Atkins, but not so drastic, so that it won't be obvious to my Mom? She buys lots of pasta and stuff though so I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep myself from eating it! Any ideas about the Atkins thing, or convincing my Mom, let me know! Thanks in advance. *Ray*Ray*

why not just eat what your mum buys but in moderation. pasta isnt unhealthy or fattening its how much u eat of it and the sauce u put on it so long as the sauce isnt carbonara or other rich cheesey sauce u should be fine. go for tomato based ones. also when ur not home like at school or somewhere try and go for healthier options and exercise out of home like walking or something. cutting down portion sizes really works. we don't need anywhere near as much as we put on out plates. & if ur mum puts loads on ur plate then eat enough until u r full and leave the rest & take ur time because it takes 20mins to register that ur full xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You could try Sugar Busters. You can have bread and pasta, as long as it's whole grain stuff. I bought the book a while ago, and I learned alot from it. You basically cut out all sugar. You can have fruit, though...but not watermelon and some other ones which I can't remember right now. Typically people lose 2lbs a week doing it. Good luck!
