Devin, I am suposing that you are the Devin that responded to Teresa below. I teach nutrition and foods in high school. I would gladely give you advice. Let me tell you that doing research is a good thing. Find out what your ideal weight and BMI should be. I am starting to read Dr. Phil's book=The Ultimate Weight Solution. Maybe you should try to check out his son's book. Anyway, try cutting out simple sugars--sweets, sugared colas, replace with water and diet colas-take it easy on the diet colas though. Eat healthy whole grains to add fiber in your diet. Make sure you add lots of variety so that you do not get board. Eat lots of vegetables. They are so good for you-low calories, low to no carbs, there are some that you can eat lots and lots of.
When I talk to my students about meal planning I tell them to make sure that their meals have variety. That insures that they are getting a combination of the nutrients that our bodies need. I know that it is hard to follow eating plans at times for different reasons, but if you are motivated you can do it. Also, start a food journal so that you can see what you are actually eating. Sometimes we don't realize how bad our eating habits are until we see it on paper. Then go through and write down what improvements you can make. Don't forget exercise, even a 20 minute walk everyday will help and it starts to make you feel better--and that increases your motivation and energy.
I hope this helps--respond to this if you want more info. Good Luck and thanks for listening!!!
