Ht. 5'7", Today: 242 lb (BMI %tile: 98) - Hello Everyone,My name is Shila and I am 15 years old. I am 5'7 and i weigh 242 pounds. I want to lose weight, not because people are making fun of me, but for health reasons. It is going to be hard for me to do that, because of the fact I love myself the way I am, so I see no reason to change. I have to unfortunatley, or I risk diabetes, heart diease, cancer, and alot of other dieases. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be 15 and have a heart attack. I am going to record my journal on this post from now until i reach my goal. Shyla right now I am 5'9 and weigh 185 lbs and I have really big bones so that is a good weight for me. But I wasnt this weight about 7 months ago. I was 40lbs heavier. I liked myself as a person but I did not like the body that I was in. So I put my mind to something and it came out to be good results. I still could loose some more weight but for right now I am fine with the weight I am. I am not sure your goal weight but whatever it is you can make it just as I did.

back in december, i was up to 228 pounds. this is due to a medical disorder called PCOS. long and complicated, would rather not explain it. but I made it my new years resolution to lose weight. 1-for health reasons, 2-becuase i am a musical theatre major and people dont cast overweight girls. i was getting kinda depressed. i've actually done a number of things. i got a membership at my local YMCA and i love doing strength training and the aerobics machine. pilates and bellydancing are fun ways to get fit too! i have started limiting the bad carbohydrates like sugar, cookies, candy, sweets and stuff. and i eat more fiber, calcium, raw fruits and veggies. trust me. you'll get there! i'm already down to 180lbs. it is possible, just stick to it and everyting is possible

That's good that you want to be healthier shyla, but I just want to point out one small thing: Kids and teens, overweight or not, very, VERY rarely have a case of a heart attack; its usually in overweight adults. It's still a good idea to be healthier anyway, so you may be more active and everything, but I just wanted to point out a small detail incase you were worrying about it or anything. And good luck. ^_^
