Also, on that topic that I was just talking about, did anyone ever see the movie, "Shallow Hal"?? If that is not an example of prejudice I dont what is. I did a really big assignment on it last year, and did you know that the lead character, Rosemary, who was large was seen eating food, ordering food or holding food 10 times in that movie?? Or that she broke 2 chairs?? And the fact that her "inner beauty" was seen as a beautiful model was obviously discriminating. This is what I'm talking about Agie: discrimation from a society that doesnt understand or accept. Any comments I'd love to hear them!

To Leigh,
There ar plently of movies about bad things happening to skinny people, it happens in practically every movies that is ever released. And my auntie told me that when she was in school there were lots of faminies in Ethiopia and Cambodia so everyone there was starving. And at school in England, the chubbier kids called my auntie "Ethiopian" and "Cambodian" just because she was very skinny. And she said every night she cried about it and wished she could gain weight.

hi liz! i saw that movie and i thought it was rediculous that a 300 lb. woman was just shown eating and breaking chairs. its obscene. People think that overweight ppl just are stupid or lazy! its not true. Why cant they make a movie about skinny ppl getting teased! No matter what your shape, size , or body you're still a human with feelings!

hi liz. i actually like the movie. it's really bad in the beginning..u know how Hal judges women by their appearance? but u know, in the end, he learned to love Rosemary for who she is on the inside. i wish there were more guys like that.

You're right, unfournately many people in our society discriminate against overweight people, sometimes without even noticing it. The premise of the maybe though remember, was to have Hal get to know an overweight woman for the person she was inside so that he would accept her for the way she looked outside. Sure it took him awhile, but in the end he did accept her right?
