I need help to lose weight, I don't know how much though, I am 5ft 4 and weigh 16st, thats 224lbs I think. How much should I lose? I have troublre during P.E because I can't run for long and I always eat a lot of junk food but I can't help it. Most of my school is overweight and the food they serve in the cateen is so fattening but so good! My whole family is overweight, my brother, age 10 weighs around 160 lbs and is only 4ft 6. Our whole house is full of fatening food and my parents don't seem to care about it, or losing weight. My friends are also overweight, I think, they say their not but they have large flabby stomachs and eat as much as me, they're around 5ft 6. What should I do? I only realy realised how fat I was when in science we were doing health as a topic. We were all weighed and 2/3 of the class turned out overweight and 1/5 of that was obese!

Your school is almost the exact opposite as mine. in my school mostly everyone is skinny and only 1 or 2 of my friends are overweight. anyway tell ure parents how u feel about losing weigfht im sure they will help you even if they dont care themselves for lunch try bringing ure own food to school or buy only healthy things at lunch if they have any(my school doesnt the only healthy stuff tastes like crap lol)

Beg your parents, cry, get it through there heads to buy healhy food and make healthy lunches. If you can't get them too, make your own money and shop for what you want--the healthiest of all foods, so when your hungry, all you eat is healthy food. Run around your block twice every morning, and gradually 6 times (1-3 miles) If you do eat something from the cafeteria, or from home that is fattening, disipline yourself by running around the block one more time. soon you'll be active in gym and look better than everyone else. DON'T GIVE UP, EVEN UNDER DEPRESSION. :)

Matt, It's really hard to achieve the healthy lifestyle that you want, if everyone around you is choosing to live another way.
I have suggestions that you can try. Ask your parents to shop for healthier food, for you. Bring your own lunch to school and don't obsess about what you can't have. Take walks and be more active everyday. Don't eat and watch TV, you'll most likely end up eating way too much. Don't give into the pressure or teasing that may occur when you start eating healthier.
Try talking to your parents about how you feel. If they won't change themselves, maybe they can support your decision for you.
