Walking slow or fast for x amount of distnace has no impact on how many calories your burn. However, when x is amount of time, it does have an impact. Whether you walk slow or fast for a mile, you still burn the same amount of calories, except by moving faster you get them burned faster!

running and walking are good. If running was horrible for your knees and your body, you wouldn't have to do it in gym class.

hi.. hmm.. i would say GO! being on a diet doesn't mean it should have any impact at all on your social life.. congrats on walking! but eat right.. and RUN instead.. intensify your training... eat small, the most you can have is ONE burger without mayo or check out what the school belle (the super skinny type) eats and take whatever she eats and cut it into half..

if you feel you can't control yourself, don't go. But, I recommend eating something healthy before hand. Fill up on that. I'm sure at the cook out they will have veggies and fruit or something. Eat those (a lot!) and if you must, only have a little desert. take a 1/2 piece, rather than a whole;-) But if you are sure you will go back to your old ways, don't go. Tell em you're watching what you eat and you don't think it's a good enviorment to be in. Or make up something else;-)
