I posted this earlier as a reply, but I wanted everyone to see it because I think it is an important message.
Take it from me, guys...I was an overweight teen but I am 25 now and healthy. Please listen to educated adults and not other kids who are also trying to lose weight (for the record, l-o-o-s-e spells loose, the opposite of tight...l-o-s-e spells lose, as in lose weight). Anyway, read these tips and good luck losing weight. 1) You cannot gain calories...you gain fat. Calories are made up of the energy in food and burning calories refers to the amount of energy you use when losing the fat. 2) Bread, pasta, potatoes, and rice should be kept to a minimum, because they are high in carbs, which is a form of sugar, which eventually turns into fat if it is not burned off as energy. Whole wheat bread is good in moderation. 3) Skipping meals can slow down your metabolism, and losing weight will be even harder. 4) Exercise a little everyday, even if it is dancing around your room, walking the dog, or jump-roping in the yard. 5) Eat fruits and veggies and drink LOTS of water. If you must have a soft drink have only one every other day and make it diet. 6) Last but most important...Don't lose weight just to gain acceptance from friends and the community. Real friends love and accept you the way you are and will support you if and when you decide to lose weight. Also, to those who are worried that boys will never ask them out, I worried about that too but, believe me, your time will come and the boys will start knocking on your door. Guys, I know this was a long message but please be careful, because you can really hurt your body if you don't know what you are doing. See a doctor and follow his/her advice. Email me if you have any questions. Good luck!!! tulipgirl1@hotmail.com

YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I did the same thing you said for about 4 weeks and I lost 8lbs. I once tried starving myself and I had lost 5lbs but then I was so tempted I ate a scoop of mint chocolate ice cream, I GAINED IT ALL BACK IN 1 DAY. Any way, when you starve yourself you become so weak and tired.

ur tips are well recieved, and im sure u remember how it is too, but also remember how much pressure is put on us teen girls to be thin, thin, thin, god ...i know..i have been on a neverending struggle to be thin since i wuz 13. I am now 5'5' and 139 pounds, and am so ashamed because when i look in the mirror i see the girl i could be, underneath the fat. All i want is to be 120 lbs and a size 2. but i just seem to eat and eat. Today i ate alot of cereal, fruits, cornbread, salmon, and 3 slices of wheatbread, i feel like such a pig and i can't help but eat this much. Sometimes its like 3 bowls of cereal in the morning. I excercise 6 days a week and do kickboxing two days a week, and the fat is still here, but i know its not the excercise but the food thats faltering my efforts. I have tried being anorexic and lasted 3 days, but it was terrible, so i stopped and realized how bad it was and how it can make u fatter, and i seriously thought about turning bulimic , but thats something i could never put myself through.
id love it if you could help me get through this and help me lose 20 lbs, VineVixen17
