Wow !!!!! I went on this website to look up some things for my 10 year old daughter that tends to gain weight very easy and instead I ended up replying to so many of you. Here are some tips since there isn't time to write to everyone. It's late now, when my daughter gets home tomorrow I'll show her this and we'll read these together. Please read below for a few tips that have helped me stay a good weight for years.
We are all God's Creations and He doesn't make junk!! Your heart is what he see's. Keep it right and you'll be fine- Stop for a few minutes, think about some foods you do like that aren't fattening- like salads with lowfat dressings- get in the habit of nibbling on things that have no fat content in them. Go for a walk every day and night if you can and start eating a lot of fruit, a lot of vegetables without butter or margarine, try and eat some baked fish every week!! Tuna is very good for you- just add a very little bit of relish if you like and give up some bread! Just eat a little bit of wholewheat bread. take a vitamin every day- tell yourself you can do it and just start thinking thin today!!
We love all of you- all you can do is take one step at a time.. eat Turkey breast too! Eat oatmeal- the kind you cook and put a little honey and milk and raisins in it- its the best thing to eat everyday for breakfast- it is sooooooooooo good for you!! Really.. Please try this- It will help you and remember, someone is praying real hard for you :) Try drinking some very cold ice water with fresh lemon sliced in it throughout the day. The lemon burns fat. Also drink grapefruit juice. LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER- It helps keep you full and you don't want to eat too much- so eat good when you do- at least three small meals a day. or about 10 very healthy things a day- think about all of the food groups and just TRY IT !!
You can do it!! Eat Fruit instead of Junk!! Or lowfat yogurt- they now have pudding kind. mmmm good!

Do you think that 100 lbs is overweight for an 11 year old, 4ft 11in tall boy? That's me.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am the mother of a daughter of almost 12 who gains weight very easily and is probably about 14 pounds overweight now. She was beginning to be unhappy about her weight so we decided to do something about it. In exactly two weeks she has lost about six pounds - although we expect the weight loss to slow down now - and we cannot believe how easy it is. Like you say, lots of fruit, healthy eating, cutting out the junk, nibbling on vegetables instead of chocolate. It wasn't until I started reading the labels of foods that I fully realised just how many calories some things are. I don't know what it is like in the US but in England we have something called Weight Watchers foods, which are tasty but low in fat and low in calories. My daughter is eating sweet & sour chicken and rice, which she loves, pizza but a low fat one and we even found a very low calorie pasta. It is educating each other to eat smaller portions, eat slower, drink more water and generally be aware of what is good for you and what isn't. Also, at weekends we go for long walks more. Some of the kids writing into this site seem desperate and want to shed the weight immediately but there is no quick fix. It is a process of education and also they must have the support of their mum because she is the one buying and cooking the food.
