Hey Sophia!
Welcome to the board! For your goal, don`t think of it as 50lbs,think of it as 5lbs in 10 mini goals!Thats what im doing,i have 3lbs to go on my mini goal!but anyway water** very important!divide your weight by 1/2 which is 82oz,thats how many ounces of wter you should try to get in a day,its really hard but you`ll get used to it lol!go with the better meal, dont be calorie countin its a waste of time, but exercise isn`t!try to execise 30min a day doing cardio exercises(google it)but basically cardio exerciseing is anything that gets your heart rate up!i can`t think of anything else but if ya have a question im always here for you to ask!! Ok well goodluck!<3 ::D

Welcome Sophia! Congrats on taking the first step in weight loss. Log EVERYTHING you eat/drink and how much you had of it along with the calories. Aim for 1200-1400 calories. Walk, run jog, weight train, dance, bike, etc. for 1 hour a day. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies, drink a minimum of 8 cups of water each day. Email me if you wanna become weightloss buddies maddiebeeonetwothree@live.com! Note: I'm 5'4, 151 lbs, I want to be 111 lbs by May 2012. We can lose weight together!
Happy new year and welcome again :)

Hi Sophia ^_^ welcome to the site! I'm glad to hear you want to make a change :D thats really wonderful! With weight loss, you'll need a source of exercise, good food choices and lots of patience. With exercise, if you don't have access to a gym or you can't walk around your neighborhood, or you don't have any equiptment, I'd suggest working with just your body! Walking in place, walking around the house, cleaning, exercise videos online! Most people who want to lose weight think they need tons of stuff like exercise vids and weights but really, you dont! You can burn lots of calories with your body alone. Before I bought a stationary bike, I didn't have much else other than walking around my neighborhood but even then I didn't really wanna go for that but I didn't realize that I didn't really need anything at all. You can make up your own routine of dancing, or just exercises like sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges, etc. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but it's something right! But if you do have things to help you exercise, that's wonderful and you should definitely use all you have to your advantage :) With food choices, I'm pretty sure everyone knows whats good and bad i.e. pizza vs. a little meat and veggies for dinner so it's really not hard at all to tell the difference and that alone can help you. I'm on a weight watchers plan, but before, I played my diet by ear and only ate when I got hungry and what I knew was good for me. So if you have a meal plan set up, great! If you don't opt for something that works for you. I honestly don't reccommend calorie counting because you can so easily get obsessed with counting and worrying about going over; so really, I'd use a different plan like the 'listening to your hunger' but like I said, use what works for you because you want to make sure you stay on plan for as long as you can. I know everyone hits bumps in the road, and that's okay but there's a huge difference between choosing a diet plan that is hard to follow and having it not last vs. using an easier plan by eating what you think is good for your body and a diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. So choose a plan you can follow and that can last! Lastly, patience. Ah patience. There are those who have patience, and those who hope to have it. Patience plays a big role in weight loss; exercise and eating depend on it greatly. So before jumping into this, think about exactly how you're going to do it and hopefully you have a little patience in store to begin with :) As long as you work on exercise and your eating, results will come, and so will more patience with your journey to help you for the rest of your life. I wish you a wonderful new year with great success and happiness ^_^ I hope you post more and feel welcome to this site because everyone is very helpful and supportive here and I hope you use that to help you. I don't know what I'd do without these girls on here, but I probably would'nt be where I am today without them so please feel free to post anything and help will be given.
