Don't go on a diet. Make little lifestyle changes. You need to do something you'll be able to stick with for your whole life if you want to keep the results! Small portions, move as much as you can (like walking or biking to school, for example), and eat slowly -- savor every bite! Also, eat until you don't feel hungry anymore, not until you're stuffed. Then you will be hungry for the next meal, but you won't have that awful stuffed, tired feeling that comes after eating a lot (think Thanksgiving). As for the exercise, don't try to push yourself to do something you can't. For example, if you can't go to the gym for an hour every day, don't. Just move more than you do currently. If you normally drive to school, walk instead, and you'll immediately start feeling better and losing weight. And it will give you energy to want to move more. If you're far from school, walk the dog, or just take a fifteen minute walk every day, twice a day if you can. Short, but brisk. You don't need to be like a personal trainer to get healthy. Just make tiny little tweaks, and stick with them. Don't try to lose more than about two pounds a week. If you make your goal to be healthy instead of to be thin, you'll lose weight as a side effect, but not so much or so quickly that it is unhealthy.
