Ht. 5'3", Start: 158 lb, Today: 158 lb, Goal: 110 lb - hey guys, I've been 'losing weight' all my life. Damn,...*sigh*. I guess the main reason why I've never really gotten anywhere is because I don't have anyone to motivate me. I need buddies to help me through this as i help them too. i managed to lose 10 pounds during the summer but gained 5 back *bummer*. Guys? Do low carb diets work? What should the ratio be between carbs and protein? Good Luck everyone!

Lo-carb.... Used to hate 'em, now I'm on one. However, this is a very expensive interactive diet, we have meetings, we only eat certain things, and we have doctors monitoring us and weighing us every week. I have been losing about 4 pounds per week, though. It's fast acting, and my friends can tell the difference. And, they make you stay in the program NINE MONTHS after you reach your goal weight, to help you adjust to carbs again.

I am not a fan of low carb. Why? Because you need carbs for energy. You need all of the food groups and anything that cuts that out isn't good for you. Plus, its not very realistic for a lifestyle because if you eat carbs again you'll gain back weight and probably more and who's never going to eat carbs in their life? My dad always does Atkins and loses and gains in a cycle. Its not good. I suggest eating wise portions. Eating when hungry stopping when full and not snacking too much unless you're extremely hungry (or in my case on my period :) ). I'm also a big exercise fan. I suggest atleast an hour of cardio a day. Good luck.
