Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From Mike, child's age 15

Just found this site and it looks like people still come here occasionally. I have a rather large problem, my son. See, he used to be rather thin and athletic like me (im a single father by the way) and then the quarantine hit. Within the year hes gained God knows how much weight. He's huge now. He layer around all year, doing his classes online and then playing video games and eating junk. He has money and access to a car so he drives to fast food places almost everyday, I cam hear him leaving even when he thinks he's sneaking out. My poor boy has ballooned. He used to be slim, clothes hung off him. Now he's had to go through multiple sizes and even his biggest ones are tight. He lazes around the house without a shirt, letting his now huge belly and boyboobs hang out on display, wears nothing but sweatpants. He used to be so skinny, now he's a tubby slob. I try to get him to go on a run with me almost everyday. When he doesn't completely shut me down and comes with, he's puffed and sweaty in 10 minutes. He used to be able to keep up with his old man and now he struggles up stairs, I can hear him huffing and puffing after going up an incline. Im worried about what this may do to his health. Even his face is chubby, big chubby cheeks and an extra chin. His rear end is larger and hanging out of his clothes that don't fit. The blow up is just so drastic. I've discussed losing a few lbs with him but he shuts me out each time or makes up excuses. He's a beautiful boy and he ways will be no matter the size of him but I worry for his health. I've taken to pinching some of those extra lbs when he comes into the kitchen looking for something so I can maybe discourage him or remind him of the sack of fat having off him but he just continues grazing like a cow. I just don't know what to do and would like some help. We don't own a scale and he only gets weighed at the doctors. Maybe I should buy one and get him on it? See where he's and what all needs to be done. Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't mean to sound rude or embarrassed of him, I love him, but I don't want a tubby teenager. I don't want to see him waddle across the stage at graduation
