~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From Aneesha, child's age 11

My buys turned 11 last Sunday and they had their annual checkups yesterday. I had called the doctor and told him about my concern about their weight so he ordered blood tests. Yesterday we went in. The boys are 58” tall. Jamile weighs 172 and Jamile weighs 193, At Christmas they were both fat but now Jamar is so much bigger. They don’t look like twins any more. The doctor examined both boys and talked to each. Jamile says he wants to be a fireman and Jamar a football player. The doctor told them they need to be in good shape for those jobs and to get plenty of exercise and eat healthy. That’s all he told them about their weights. Then he told them to leave the room. He told us the boys lab work was normal but they’re much too fat. He recommended referral to a dietician. The doctor knows my husband from a softball team they used to play on before Covid19 and he told my husband how much weight he’s put on and told him to get on the scale. Much to my surprise he weighs 310 now and the doctor told him he’s let himself get way too fat and the whole family is eating way too much. He told us he wants to see the boys in 6 months and that he doesn’t want to see any weight gain. After we left it was like the doctor hadn’t said anything. After the boys went to sleep my husband and I had a big argument. He knows what’s best for the boys and himself and the doctor and I worry too much. As long as he takes his meds he’s OK and Jamar and Jamile are just going through a phase. Help!
