Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From tee, child's age 9

Hi! I am so happy that I found this site! My son is 9 yrs. old, is 4'5" tall and weights approx 100 lbs. He is extremely self concious about his weight! He never has a good thing to say about himself and is often teased at school. He is an adorable child...very sweet and sensitive! Well, I enrolled him in summer camp for 1 week (with a friend)...when he found out there would be swimming, he refused to go because he'll have to take off his shirt!! I want him to go because I know he'll have fun! He is very active...baseball, basketball, football, swimming at home, bike riding...I am desperate! I know he needs a diet, but I'm not sure how to go about it with a 9 yr. old. What I'd like to do is remove the bad carbs, like chips and cookies, bread, pasta, etc. but still let him have the fruits and vegs. ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED! I am seriously considering speaking with a nutritionist. My heart is hurting sooo much for him! Thank you very much!
