Losing weight is not easy (Unfortunately, it is so easy to put on, but hard to take off - Wish it was the other way around, eh?) I am overweight myself and I sometimes wish that I could be thinner (I am not too concerned about the actual weight number) I just want to look good. I, myself am tall (5'11) so it does not really show that much, but anyone who would look at me would notice that I am a bit chubby looking. Lately, I have been exercising. Every morning, I walk to school and home from school. Walking is one of the best exercises your body can get, so after dinner or whenever you are bored, go for a walk and enjoy the great outdoors! Before you go to bed, do some situps and pushups. I do that and it feels great. I sometimes use the "Health Walker" (You stand on it and walk in the air - also known as an "Air Walker") and that is a great way. If you do have that machine, I suggest... (view more)

I'm not a teenager (!), but to answer your question: about a year ago, I did Tae Bo for a whole
year. Can't remember how much I lost, but it did make me stronger! Not only that, by doing it reg. (@ least 20min. a day), I felt more focused (I have ADD), & more confident! Try it! I'm trying to get back into shape, too....I recommend Tae Bo Basic,
&/or CRUNCH/Tae Boxing. Also try a Pilates Video....

Cardiovascular work: is important to speed up your metabolism so you burn more calories to help shed body fat, and it should be performed at least 3 days a week. What I recommend is to alternate your weight training days with cardio days. So, following your weight training session, do 30 minutes of any cardio activity. Then, on your alternate days, do 30 minutes of any (great way to mix it up and keep it fun!) cardio activity and activity and also on this day perform some abdominal and calf exercises.
-Also Eat Well Balanced foods, stuff like pizza and everything isn't that good for you if your trying to loose weight. Don't eat so little to loose cause you will gain it back and + more. Drink Plenty of water I usually drink 1-5 L but I touch it up with StrawberryKiwi Crystal Lite.

Ht. 5'3", Today: 112 lb (BMI %tile: 60) - I am not fat, i am 112 at 5'3", but I thought I'd make a suggestion. I started taking a really cool fitness class. In the beginning, we do stretches for about 25 mins. to warm up and stretch our bods. Next, for about 50 mins, we do a heavy arobics work-out, with weights and stuff. The last part is stretching, relaxing yoga. Well, after 2 weeks, my stomach is perfectly flat, i am getting nicely toned, and I am happy with my body. I have a curvy, hourglass figure, and I will never be "bone-thin". But anyone can TONE the body that they are born with, and make it more shapely. Plus, laydeez, don't try to fit that stick-thin image. Guys HATE stick thin. They think it's disgusting. I think it goes back to instinct; the brain knows that a too-skinny body is not capable of carrying a child. A healthy, curvy body, though, can carry a healthy baby. Just exercise and eat right!!!! If you want me to give you some exercises and really good eating ideas, email me at Sarahcor123@aol.com. I never thought it was possible, but determination CAN help you lose weight quickly!

I know what you mean! I'm the same way. I'm in college now (a junior almost senior) and I find myself doing the same. However, what I like to do is take walks around the campus, rollerblade(my fav thing). Anyway, find a park or if ya can get to your campus, walk around it and make yourself more familar with it. AS for food, omg, I know its hard, esspecially around finals*makes a face* and such makes food more tempting. But I found that if you exercise, I do not become as hunger. Msg back here if ya want my screen name or e-mail adress.

Pilates exercise videos work really well for toning your middle, but its pretty expensive, try getting a hoola hoop and doing it while watching tv or something its not too hard and it works well.

Hey Gurl! To lose weight eat three HEALTHY meals a day. Try not to eat between meals but if you are really hungry eat a fruit or veggie, they are very good for you. Also drink 8 glasses of water a day. Eliminate foods with lots of fat and calories from your diet. Only go out to eat once a month. Also it's extremely important to get 60 minutes of aerobic exercise every day. Jump Rope while watching your favorite TV show, Hula hoop to your favorite song, Rollerblade, Ride your bike, or anything else that helps you get your heart pumping. I hope this helps Brittany. Good luck! :)

Hey!
If you get the right tapes, like the ones that include toning, stretching, warm-ups, and aerobics, they will work. You can't exactly know how much you will lose with them though because everyones body is different. Just remeber that 80% of losing weight comes from eating healthy, so its not just based on exersising. You need to make a concious effort to eat right, and you will succeed. Good luck!

Liz- I tried to leave a comment on ur post, but it didn't work, so this is my suggestion about your dog. I can usually get my dog to play chase with me. I chase her to one end of the house and she chases me back. It's fun and it gets you sprinting. You can also play keep away with a toy by throwing it in the house (not far obviously) and then seeing who can get it first, you or the dog. It's a great work out for both of you! Good luck!
