smiley is right that sit ups will only build muscle, but keep in mind that muscle is a power-house for burning calories. so eventho you prolly wont notice results, the muscle you are building by sit ups burns fat and calories faster than if you weren't doing any sit ups.

Okay guys. Sorry to break your cloud but sit-ups do not make your stomach smaller. They build muscle which you won't see, until you have gotten rid of the fat off your stomach. The only way to get rid of fat on your stomach, is to burn more calories than you eat. So in other words, there is very little point in doing sit-ups unless you have little fat on your stomach. Hope this helps! :)

Hey! I had, well still have a little, bit of the same problem as you. See, there is this exercise routine thing that works great for you hips, thighs, stomach, and upper body (with out giving you HUGE muscles).Anyway, the thing is called PILATES and it really works. It works on lengthening the muscles and I'm telling you it is a dream come true! LOL! Well, you can find a video anywhere (Target is good) and you can even find and take classes at a local gym or something. Good luck!

Good news everyone! I got a trampoline!! It's so much fun to bounce. My parents made a deal with me though. I have to jump for 15 minutes a day. It gets really tiring, but I turn on the radio or listen to my cd player. Also, now that its a lot warmer outside, I go outside and kick my soccer ball at the stairs everyday. The stairs "pass" the ball back. Speaking of the weather, swimsuit season is coming up. Oh how I hate pulling on a swim suit that shows every detail in your body. Ugh! Well, this year I'm going to this camp and I want to be thinner by then. Hopefully I'll be able to wear a bikini infront of my seriously fit best friend. Crunches, crunches, crunches is all I'll be doing until the last two weeks of July. Proportion wise I'm not doing well, but I've been drinking lots of water. Oh and someone asked about not eating after 7:00. Yeah, well this person in the success board said ... (view more)

Hey! I know probably alot of you if not all HATE to run. Yeah I do too. BUT! Its really not that bad. I have a treadmill and if you have one too you should use it. I just ran a mile in about 16.5 minutes and I weigh 245 lbs. Just put on some music and just run! Another thing I like to do is try to beat your time. Yesterday I got 18.5 minutes and today I got 16.5 minutes! And also drink LOTS of water. If you drink any soda it should be DIET! If you limit that regular soda you drink every day you can lose 25 lbs. a year!

Spot training is a myth, a widely known myth. Crunches do sorta give you a flat stomach, if you're going for a muscly flat stomach while also doing aerobic work outs. The only way to lose wieght in one place is to lose wieght over your entire body. So, instead of spending your time doing crunches to flatten the flab, try to run or walk for a while everyday. You'll lose wieght all over, including your stomach, then you can do those crunches to tone your stomach and give you a washboard!

I know how it is. I am 5'8' and weigh 158. I have found a exercise that you could do to help. It is called the bicycle. what you do is lay on the ground and act like your riding a bicycle. When your left leg is pushed out your left elbo, like a crunch, needs to touch your right knee. it sounds weird but it actually helps.

All I can say is keep trying until you find something that works for you. It doesn't matter how much you weigh or what size you are as long as you are happy with yourself. I would suggest eating regular and trying things like lifting weights and aerobics. Even try walking for a half hour a day. Anything that gets you moving will help you feel better and lose weight.

Tae-bo is THE best way to lose weight and get soo toned. I got them on info-mercials late at night. But i saw a bunch of them at the Academy Stores. You'll need three tapes, the instructional, the beginner, and advanced. Those should get you going. there's different versions, and im doing the live ones, their great.

walking is one of the best exercises you can do. it tones all your body, not like weight training which targets spots, and its really easy to see and feel the results. When i first started walking i could only go a short way, now after three weeks i can go for much longer. you wont actually see the results this fast but when youve just completed your circuit in half the time and dont feel exhausted its a real push to keep going. keep eating healthy, and dont skimp on the water, its really immportant that you drink 9 glasses a day. keep us posted, luv rachel

Hi I just wanted to say that I don't think using weight is necessarily bad... over using them might be. I think the best way to get the most out of excercise is not to over do it , I use small hand weights and dont try to strain my body . using them for about 30 min a day might be good... and lots of water!! (I'm the water queen) lol Hope this helps Good luck!! BRANDY

Try looking around these boards for help and use their tips! Also try to get some exercise. It doesn't have to be horrible, take a nice long walk sometime during the day for about half an hour. Do this everyday and you will see result soon!
