Basically you've got two teams, one who is bowling and the other is batting. There are two batsmen at the end of a rectangular cricket pitch, a wicket keeper, a bowler and fieldsmen. The aim of the game is similar to baseball, to get the other team out. A wicket is three pieces of standing wood. The batsmen has a long flat paddle with which to hit the ball. His job is to guard the wicket. Now the bowler throws the ball, aiming at the wicket. A few things may happen. If the ball hits the wickets, the batsmen is out and the next batsmen runs in. If he hits it then the two batsmen run from the end of the pitch they are at to the other. They get as many runs as they can. If the fieldsmen catch the ball without it bouncing, batsmen is out. If they intercept the ball and throw it back to the wicketkeeper and they are not "safe" (ie they are not at their wickets but still running) they are out. Its not that hard to understand. These are just the basics. The object is whoever has the most runs wins. I suggest you talk to someone who knows how to play it or you watch the world cup.
