Good for you, im sure you can lose the weight and show your family how to develop healthier eating habits too. Just stick to 3 balanced meals a day and if you're hungry in between meals try to snack on fruit or lowcal yoghurt etc. Also fitting in at least 30 mins of exercise 5 times per week will really help you tone up and lose weight.
